— Sep 29th 2021Champions League Matchday 2: Inter earn first point as Real Madrid are stunned by Sheriff
Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Shakhtar Donetsk means Inter now have their first point in Group D of the 2021/22 Champions League but the real surprise of the evening was Sheriff Tiraspol's shock win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.
Jasurbek Yaxshiboye drew first blood for the vistors before Karim Benzema levelled from the penalty spot. Sebastien Thill then produced a 90th-minute winner to record a historic result for the Champions League newcomers, who now lead Group D on six points after defeating Shakhtar 2-0 in their opening game.
Real Madrid remain on three points and will now take on Shakhtar Donetsk in back-to-back fixtures.
Simone Inzaghi's Inter meanwhile are set to play Sheriff twice, first in Milan and then in Moldova, before hosting Roberto De Zerbi's side at the San Siro and finishing with a trip to Madrid.
