Stefan de Vrij speaks ahead of Champions League clash

KYIV  – With Inter’s second UEFA Champions League Group D fixture against Shakhtar Donetsk fast approaching, Stefan de Vrij was on media duty alongside Simone Inzaghi in the pre-match press conference. The clash with Roberto De Zerbi’s side is set to kick off at 18:45 CEST on Tuesday.

As the leader of the defence, what’s the main difference in that department compared with the last two seasons?

“I think that many concepts have remained the same, including the formation, which we already knew very well. That’s something that doesn’t just apply to the defence, but to the team as a whole. We’re an attacking side, we press high and create plenty of chances. Maybe we can find more balance overall. That’s an area for improvement.”

How has it been with Simone Inzaghi three years down the line?

“I got on very well with the boss during my time at Lazio and I’m pleased that he’s come here. I get on very well with him and his staff now, too. We’ll try to improve even more together.”
