FLORENCE – Matteo Darmian is always there, in the right place at the right time. Patrolling the right flank, defending in the area and getting up into the opposition box.
The fans remember his goals against Cagliari and Verona in Inter's title charge last season and against Fiorentina he notched his first of the current campaign, linking up with Nicolo Barella before angling home from inside the box.
Afterwards, he spoke to Inter TV about Inter's hard-fought victory at the Stadio Franchi.
“These three points are massive because we knew it was a really tough match," the 31-year-old began. "We struggled in the first half but managed to hold it together and then we responded really well.
“It's always nice to score, especially as it means helping the team. As a wing-back, it's your job to get up into attacking areas in support. Hopefully there will be more goals to come but the main thing today was winning the game – and we fought back brilliantly.
“It's a big three points but tomorrow we'll turn our thoughts to Atalanta.”
