Seven Nerazzurri racked up three wins, one draw and one defeat in Tuesday evening’s World Cup qualifiers for Qatar 2022. Marcelo Brozovic started for Croatia alongside captain Ivan Perisic who got an assist in a 3-0 win, Netherlands made light work of Turkey, Slovakia recorded a victory and Bosnia and Herzegovina served up a draw.
NETHERLANDS HIT TURKEY FOR 6
Netherlands ran out 6-1 winners over Turkey at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. The hosts took a very early lead through Davey Klassen, with Memphis Depay grabbing a hat-trick and Guus Til and Donyell Malen also getting among the goals. Cengiz Under scored a consolation goal for the visitors. Stefan de Vrij played 90 minutes, Denzel Dumfries was involved for 71 minutes and Hakan Calhanoglu featured until the 86th minute.
CAPTAIN PERISIC GRABS ASSIST
Croatia built on the success over Slovakia last time out, in which Brozovic struck the winner, with a 3-0 victory over Slovenia. Marko Livaja, Mario Pasalic and Nikola Vlasic got on the scoresheet, while the Inter number 77 played the full 90 minutes and Perisic’s involvement lasted until the 86th minute. The Nerazzurri winger, who wore the captain’s armband, set up the team’s second goal of the night.
SKRINIAR PLAYS THE FULL MATCH AS SLOVAKIA WIN
After drawing with Slovenia and losing to Croatia, Slovakia bounced back with a 2-0 win over Cyprus. Milan Skriniar played the full 90 minutes.
DZEKO STARTS AS BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA DRAW
Edin Dzeko played the entirety of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s 2-2 stalemate with Kazakhstan.
