— Apr 28th 2021Talent, passion, Inter through and through: From the youth teams to the Hall of Fame, today Walter Zenga celebrates his 61st birthday
Zenga's story is one that intertwines talent, passion and a date with destiny on a very specific date, 1971, when Walter entered the Nerazzurri world to become one of the greatest goalkeepers in history.
In the Inter youth teams from 1971 to 1978, he then spent twelve years in the First Team, from 1982 to 1994, playing out his dream, defending the Nerazzurri goal and confirming himself as an extraordinary goalkeeper. Nicknamed Spiderman, he was awarded the prize for best goalkeeper in three consecutive years - from '89 to '91.
He had the destiny and the talent ... and then there was the passion, for football as well as for Inter.
Zenga led the team with his saves and his charisma while wearing the Nerazzurri jersey on 473 occasions, winning the "Record-breaking Scudetto" in 1989, the Italian Super Cup and the Uefa Cup twice, in the 1990/91 season and on 11 May 1994 at the end of an unforgettable final against Salzburg.
His is a life in Nerazzurri: the boy who went to San Siro to cheer on Inter became the first goalkeeper to join theNerazzurri Hall of Fame:
“A child's dream that has come true. I went to the stadium, I just wanted to see Inter, this award is a unique emotion!".
Today, on his 61st birthday, he receives the best wishes from the Club and all the fans.
