APPIANO GENTILE - He ended 2020 with a goal in Verona and, alongside his teammates, did not put a step wrong in his first game of the new year. Milan Skriniar spoke to Mediaset after the win against Crotona - Inter’s eighth consecutive win in Serie A: “We’re working well and doing the right thing in training and in games. We want consistently good performances and results,” Inter’s number 37 stated on the run, which began on 22 November.
His individual performances are improving too: “It’s natural. Now, I’m more used to the style of football here but I don’t think I was too bad last year. The team is growing game by game and everyone is done better and better. But there are always areas you can improve. Last year, we didn’t concede as much, though we’re now scoring more than before. We do need to cry to concede less now.”
On transfer rumours in summer, he explained, “I always wanted to stay here. I’m happy to be performing more consistently.”
Inter now await a series of crucial games against Sampdoria, Roma and Juventus: “Each game could be decisive, so we want to take it game by game and start with a ninth consecutive win in Genoa. The league is balanced this season and we only need to take care of what we are doing. When things aren’t going right but the team is still winning, you work even harder. This is important to get consistent results.”
Finally, on Lukaku, who went off injured late on against Crotone, “We hope that Romelu is back for our next games but if he is out, we have other players that can come in, even if they have different characteristics. Romelu is a really important player for us but we need to play well without him too.”
