MILAN – Hard work, plenty of motivation and one goal, to grow as a footballer while continuing to enjoy his time on the pitch, without pressure but with the adrenaline that only this sport knows how to induce. Alessandro Bastoni is young in his years but certainly impressive in his performances. He’s got the enthusiasm and hunger of a 20-year-old and the head of someone who has been following a certain path with care and dedication for years. Bastoni talked about his story in an exclusive interview for our Matchday Programme. Here are five things you may not have known about him:
HIS LOVE FOR THE NBA AND STEPH CURRY
I like sport in general, I love following football and the NBA, my favourite player is Steph Curry, but when I can I also follow basketball here in Milan.
THE TURNING POINT IN HIS CAREER
The game which I think changed my career up to now was my debut for Parma against Torino, when I came onto the pitch I thought to myself: “This is the game that can change my career.” We won 2-1 and from then on I started to play regularly in Serie A.
NO PRESSURE, JUST ADRENALINE
I play football, I chose this path and I’m lucky to have this job, so when I step onto the pitch I look to enjoy myself, I don’t feel the pressure, only positive tension, you feel it in your stomach, it’s the adrenaline that makes this sport unique.
THE PERFECT GAME
The Champions League final, playing for Inter of course, it’s 0-0 in the 90th minute, we win a corner and I go up and score to win the game.
THE ADVICE FROM HIS SENIORS
Everyone gives me advice on the pitch, especially the defenders, Milan, Stefan and Diego. Godin gives me advice more from his experience, on how to mark your man, Skriniar on how to be more aggressive.
