Clinical Brozovic and Perisic's return to scoring form: Inter vs. Parma, the statistics
Team
— Nov 1st 2020Samir Handanovic makes his 350th appearance for the Nerazzurri
MILAN - If the draw with Parma snatched in added time leaves a bitter taste and the feeling of regret over the game, just as the match with Borussia was, the clash at San Siro still gives us some interesting statistics to dwell on.
HANDANOVIC, 350 APPEARANCES FOR INTER
Against Parma, Samir Handanovic played his 350th match in a Nerazzurri shirt. Since the summer of 2012, the Slovenian has made 298 appearances in Serie A, twelve in Coppa Italia, two in Europa League Qualifiers, 24 in the Europa League and 14 in the Champions League. Handanovic sits in 17th place in the all-time Nerazzurri ranking for appearances. In the positions immediately preceding his are Giampiero Marini (375), Ivano Bordon (382) and Gabriele Oriali (392).
BROZOVIC, LEFT-FOOTED GOAL FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA LIKE IN THE DERBY
The technique was the same: same left foot, same strike, same goal and same outcome. Marcelo Brozovic is back scoring in an Inter shirt in the same way he did last time in the Derby comeback win last February. On that occasion, it was a left footed shot that went in at the Curva Nord end. For Brozovic, four of his last five goals scored with Inter have come from outside the box.
What’s more, Brozovic is the only Inter player to score in each of the last seven seasons in Serie A.
PERISIC FINDS THE NET AFTER ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF
Having spent last season at Bayern Munich, Ivan Perisic, back in a Nerazzurri shirt, has finally scored. His last goal came in 2019, on 13 May in a 2-0 win sealed by Politano and Perisic. From that goal to his header against Parma, 537 days had gone by without him scoring again.
KOLAROV, CATALYST OF THE GAME
Aleksandar Kolarov was a brilliant bright spark in the game between Inter and Parma. The Serb made 110 passes (96 of which were successful). When compared with the Parma players’ stats, Inter’s dominant performance is made even clearer: the Parma player with the most passes was their keeper, Sepe, with 38.
