NERAZZURRI STATS

INTER'S PREVIOUS 0-0 DRAW IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

Inter dominated their match against Shakhtar for large spells but were unable to break the deadlock. It was the Nerazzurri’s first goalless draw in the competition since the 2009/10 season, when Inter and Barcelona cancelled each other out during the group stage.

The stalemate in Ukraine is just the third time that Inter have played out a goalless stalemate away from home in the Champions League. They previously drew 0-0 in their first-leg semi-final showdown against Milan in 2002/03 and then in the return leg of their round of 16 tie against Valencia in 2006/07.

THE WOODWORK HIT THREE TIMES IN TWO MATCHES

Against Borussia, Lautaro struck the post with a thunderous volley. Against Shakhtar, the bar denied both Barella and Lukaku in the first half. Yesterday evening, Inter hit the woodwork twice in a single Champions League game for the first time since November 2019 (when they beat Slavia Prague 3-1 away from home). Furthermore, for the first time since February 2006 (a 2-2 draw against Ajax), Inter saw two first-half efforts come off the frame of the goal in a Champions League fixture.

NULLIFYING OPPOSITION ATTACKS

Against Borussia and Shakhtar, Inter only allowed the opposition to take two shots in the opening 45 minutes. In their league fixture against Genoa, the Rossoblù only had one effort at goal throughout the 90 minutes (which was off target). In Kyiv, the match ended with Shakhtar having had four shots, only one of which was on target.
