GENOA – A clean sheet, no opportunities for the opposition and an assist for Inter’s second. Andrea Ranocchia returned to the starting line-up and played his part in a precious win for the Nerazzurri: “I’m happy because we’ve returned to winning ways and have regained a bit of enthusiasm during a period where a lot of games are taking place. It’s important that we’ve managed to pick up three points and haven’t conceded,” he said to Inter TV.
“We had balance and were aggressive, the whole team did well defensively. Every player knows what they have to do when they take to the pitch: we’re a very organised side. On a personal level, I try to make sure I’m ready when I’m called upon. The Coach’s complimentary words? It’s pleasing, but these words should serve as motivation to work even better. The season is long and we can’t dwell on positive comments.”
The team will immediately return to Milan ahead of their match against Shakhtar Donetsk on matchday two of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday: “We’re used to playing every three days. Tomorrow, we’ll focus on recuperating and begin our preparations for the match against Shakhtar. We want to win there too.”
