MILAN – The official start of the season for the Nerazzurri is fast approaching: they will be taking to the pitch for the first time at 20:45 CEST against Fiorentina, on the second matchday of the Serie A season. Antonio Conte’s team will then catch up on matchday two on 30 September away at Benevento. The countdown to Inter's return to competitive action has begun!
SERIE A GETS UNDERWAY
Over the weekend, the 2020/21 Serie A campaign began. Inter's first opponents Fiorentina were in action in the first match of the season, beating Torino 1-0 on Saturday at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, with Gaetano Castrovilli scoring the winner. Here are the results from the first matchday so far:

THE NERAZZURRI'S PRE-SEASON
In the past week, Antonio Conte and Inter have completed three pre-season appointments as they prepare for the new season.
Friendly: Inter 5-0 Lugano HIGHLIGHTS The Nerazzurri faced Swiss side Lugano in their first pre-season encounter of the season, the side they also faced at the start of 2019/20 season. At the Suning Training Centre, the Nerazzurri came out with a 5-0 win, with goals from Dalbert, Lautaro (2), Lukaku, along with an own-goal.
Training Match: Inter 7-0 Carrarese HIGHLIGHTS Our training match at the Suning Training Centre against Carrarese finished 7-0, with Lukaku and Lautaro each bagging a brace, and Sanchez, Young and Salcedo also on the scoresheet.
Friendly: Inter 7-0 Pisa HIGHLIGHTS Inter returned to action at San Siro after almost two months away from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. Their opponents were Serie B side Pisa. The Nerazzurri ran riot, with a hat-trick Lautaro, a brace from Eriksen, and goals from Lukaku and Gagliardini.
TWO MONTHS DOWN THE LINE: INTER VS. FIORENTINA
Inter and Fiorentina faced one another three times last season: twice in the league, with both encounters ending level (1-1 at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, and 0-0 at San Siro), and once in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia, when Inter came out with a 2-1 win. Their last meeting was on 23 July.
Inter and Fiorentina have faced one another on 164 occasions in Serie A: the Nerazzurri have won 66, while the Viola have won 44, with 54 draws completing the picture. Inter have hosted 82 of those encounters, with 48 wins, 19 draws and 15 wins for the Viola.
