We take a look at which players collected the most minutes from Inter’s 54 games across all competitions in 2019/20

MILAN – 361 days on the pitch for Inter, who fought right until the end in an extremely long season. One that saw so many different emotions and even more goals, with 113 in all competitions. As we await the team’s return to the pitch, we take a look back on the 2019/20 season and the players who collected the most minutes on the pitch:

1 - Samir Handanovic

Top spot in our rankings for most appearances fittingly goes to our No.1. Our Nerazzurri captain collected 4,585 minutes from 48 appearances in all competitions, all the way from our season opener against Lecce to the Europa League final against Sevilla. On the subject of appearances, our Slovenian shotstopper (who holds the most all-time Serie A appearances for a non-Italian goalkeeper), celebrated his 475th appearance in the Italian top flight against Fiorentina this season, climbing to 22nd place for all-time Serie A appearances and catching up with Giacinto Facchetti.

2 – Romelu Lukaku

With 4,425, second spot for minutes played in all competitions goes to Romelu Lukaku. Our Belgian took to the pitch on 51 occasions in his first season in Nerazzurri colours: the last Inter players to play more than 51 games in a season were Samuel Eto'o (53) and Javier Zanetti (52) in 2010/11. Our new number 9 scored 34 goals in all competitions, matching Ronaldo’s tally from his debut season at the Club in ‘97/98.

3 – Stefan de Vrij

The final spot up for grabs on the podium is occupied by Stefan de Vrij with 4,260 minutes from 46 appearances, recording four goals and five assists along the way. Our Dutch defender had a great season in terms of numbers and performances, both of which saw him named 2019/20 Serie A Defender of the Year by Lega Serie A. Stefan de Vrij also made it into Opta’s Best XI, and was the only centre-back in Serie A this season to score at least three goals and register at least three assists (four goals and three assists for him in the league).

4 – Marcelo Brozovic

Fourth place is taken by Marcelo Brozovic, who played a total of 4,083 minutes in 46 games, scoring three goals. Our Croatian man in the middle, along with being in our Top 5 for appearances and holding remarkable statistics for passes made and average distance run, also tops the assist charts for the Nerazzurri (joint on nine with Alexis Sanchez).

5 – Lautaro Martinez

The final feature in today’s Top 5 is Lautaro Martinez, who collected 3,724 minutes from 49 appearances. Our Argentinian frontman scored 21 goals this season, also being the player to score the most goals in the opening half an hour of games (13) across Europe’s Top 5 leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League.
