MILAN - The 2019/20 season was a long one, lasting 361 days for everyone at Inter (check out all of the statistics here): from Inter vs. Lecce on 26 August 2019 to Sevilla vs. Inter on 21 August 2020. A wild ride kicked off with a right-footed curler into the top right from Marcelo Brozovic, and concluded with a Diego Godin header to level the scores in the Europa League final. The alpha and omega of a goal tally like never before: 113 goals in all competitions, a Club record since Serie A took on a round-robin format in the 1929/30 season, overtaking our previous high for goal hauls in the 2006/07 and 1950/51 seasons.
A season which saw 19 different Nerazzurri names on the scoresheet, along with Federico Dimarco’s for his own goal off Candreva’s cross in our game against Hellas Verona.
HOW INTER’S 113 GOALS WERE SCORED
Here are the splits for Inter’s goals across the various competitions: 81 goals in Serie A (the second-best attack in the league), 15 in the Europa League, ten in the Champions League and seven in the Coppa Italia. From a total of 54 games, Inter finished the season with an average of 2.1 goals per game.
51 goals from the right foot, 35 from the left, but most remarkably 26 from the head: Inter scored the most headed goals in all competitions out of any side in Europe’s Top 5 leagues (Lukaku netting six of these headers).
