MILAN – By coming on in the second half of SPAL vs. Inter, Danilo D’Ambrosio achieved a prestigious feat in Nerazzurri colours: it was the Italian defender’s 200th appearance for Inter in all competitions. This was also accomplished by Andrea Ranocchia earlier on in the season.
Born in September 1988, D’Ambrosio initially played for Potenza and Juve Stabia after coming through Salernitana and Fiorentina’s youth ranks, starting his professional career at Torino from 2010 to 2014. While at the Granata, he spent two and a half seasons in Serie B and a season and a half in the Italian top flight, playing 122 times and scoring ten goals in the process. In January 2014, he joined Inter.
D’Ambrosio is now just the third player in the current Nerazzurri squad to have featured at least 200 times for the Club. Leading the way is Samir Handanovic (333), while Andrea Ranocchia (205) is second when it comes to Inter appearances.
From 2014 to the present day, D’Ambrosio has taken to the pitch 167 times in Serie A, finding the net on eleven occasions. In total, the Italian has scored 14 goals in 200 games. This makes him the fifth highest goalscorer in the current Inter squad across all competitions: onlyLukaku, Martínez, Brozovic and Candreva have done better.
Since his arrival in January 2014, only two players have made more appearances for Inter in all competitions than Danilo D’Ambrosio: Handanovic and Icardi. Since becoming a Nerazzurri player, he has been involved in 51 clean sheets for Inter, more than any other outfield player.

So far this campaign, D’Ambrosio has made 23 appearances: 17 in the league, where he’s scored two goals, one in the Coppa Italia, three in the Champions League and two in the Europa League. He’s scored at least two goals in every season he’s been at the Nerazzurri (three is his record tally over the course of a single campaign). Together with Leonardo Bonucci, D’Ambrosio is one of just two defenders to have found the net at least twice in every one of the past five Serie A seasons.
