Voting for the third edition of the Inter Hall of Fame closes today


MILAN - Today marks the end of voting for the third edition of the Inter Hall of Fame, powered by Pirelli. This year’s was a special edition, with the champions of our Treble-winning campaign who have since retired also featuring among the candidates.

The criteria to be eligible for the Nerazzurri Hall of Fame states that the player must have:

  • made at least 60 competitive appearances for Inter;

  • won at least one trophy for Inter;

  • been retired as a player for at least three years or have retired as a player and won the 2010 Triplete.

The players already in the Nerazzurri Hall of Fame are as follows:

2018 edition: Walter Zenga; Javier Zanetti; Lothar Matthäus; Ronaldo. 2019 edition: Francesco Toldo; Giacinto Facchetti; Dejan Stankovic; Giuseppe Meazza.

We’ve looked back on so many statistics on the champions nominated for this year’s edition, but now’s the time for one last quiz (in collaboration with Opta) to put our fans to the test on the Nerazzurri strikers of Inter’s past.

1) Which player holds the record for most Serie A goals scored in their first season at Inter?

  • Istvan Nyers

Istvan Nyers arrived at Inter in the summer of 1948, going on to score 26 goals in Serie A over the course of his first season in Nerazzurri colours (1948/49), more than any other player has ever managed in their first year at the Club.

2) Benito Lorenzi sits in 30th place of the list of all-time top scorers in Serie A. Which other former Nerazzurri star finds himself level with him?

Christian Vieri and Benito Lorenzi scored the same number of goals in Serie A: an incredible 142.

3) How many goals did Diego Milito score across all competitions in our Treble-winning season?

  • 30

In the 2009/10 season, Diego Milito hit 22 goals in Serie A, six in the Champions League and two in the Coppa Italia. Look back on all of El Principe’s strikes from the Treble here.

4) Christian Vieri is the only player to have ever scored a hat-trick on their Serie A debut for Inter in the era of three points for a win. Who did it come against?

  • Hellas Verona

On 29 August 1999, Christian Vieri made his mark in Nerazzurri colours right away as he hit a hat-trick against Verona at San Siro. Here’s a list of the last five players to have scored more than one on their debut for Inter.

5) 4,521 days passed between Aldo Serena’s first and final goals for Inter in Serie A. In which season did he score his final goal for the Nerazzurri in the competition?

  • 1990/1991

Aldo Serena’s first goal for Inter in Serie A came in the 1978/1979 season, he went on to win the 1988/1989 Golden Boot with 22 goals and then scored his last league goal for Inter in 1991. His career total for the Club was 78 goals from 223 games.

6) Jair Da Costa scored eleven European Cup goals in an Inter shirt. How many other Inter players have hit double figures in the European Cup/Champions League?

Inter’s two top scorers in history are Giuseppe Meazza (284 goals) and Spillo Altobelli (209). Roberto Boninsegna sits in third place on 171, followed shortly by Mazzola (160) and Luigi Cevenini III (158).

9) Together with Adriano, Samuel Eto’o is one of just two players to ever score a European Cup/Champions League hat-trick for Inter, his trio of goals coming in a 4-0 win over Werder Bremen in September 2010. Who else got on the scoresheet that night?
