MILAN – Milan said farewell to Mario Corso today in the Basilica di Sant’Ambrogio. On the day of the legendary Nerazzurri no.11’s funeral, we offer you an unpublished interview from February 2019.
An open chat, as it always was with Corso: a portrait of 60 years of Inter and Herrera’s period with just a few words, enough to paint it all in detail. “We were young, and victories increased our popularity. I never made a fuss, but there was no rivalry between players.”
He also traced Herrera’s personality, like a free kick: “He was especially good at managing players during the week when there were no days off. He gave the right freedom, and on Sundays he wasn’t so good…But he supported us, as did Angelo Moratti and Allodi. And we…we kept on the straight and narrow.”
His conclusion was sweet and Nerazzurri through and through: “60 years of life dedicated to Inter: I received a lot and gave something.”
More than something, Mario.
