MILAN - Born on 2 May 1935 with football in his destiny, his sublime technique shone through right away, distinguishing his play throughout his career. He began in the youth sides of Deportivo de La Coruña, making his first-team debut in ’52 before being snapped up by Barcelona after just one season. He would go on to win everything at his new club, including a Ballon D’Or after Helenio Herrera took charge of Barca in 1958.

After joining the Nerazzurri in 1961, he instantly became a pillar of the emerging Grande Inter side, being the mind of the team and a technical point of reference for all the side’s good play thanks to a mix of technique, speed and footballing intelligence: 328 appearances, 54 goals and a stunning haul of trophies, with three Scudetti, two European Cups and two Intercontinental Cups.
