MATCH REPORTExactly 16 years ago, on 4 April 2004, Inter vs. Juventus took place at San Siro. A super performance from the Nerazzurri, who were inspired by the quality contributions of Martins, Vieri and more than anyone, Stankovic. Alberto Zaccheroni’s Inter were without Toldo and Recoba on the day, and started with Fontana in between the sticks, Materazzi in defence alongside Cordoba and Gamarra, then Javier Zanetti, Cristiano Zanetti, Farinos and Kily Gonzalez behind Stankovic, who was playing in support of the Vieri-Martins duo up top. The deadlock was broken just 300 seconds after the match kicked off, with Martins scoring from a Stankovic assist and bursting into his trademark somersaults to celebrate. An unfortunate own goal from Kily Gonzalez saw the scores levelled, before Christian Vieri put us back in front from twelve yards, with the penalty won by our Serbian once again. Having placed his stamp on the first two goals, it took just two minutes of play in the second half for "Il Dragone" to get one of his own. Farinos whipped in the corner, Cordoba got a flick and Stankovic was there to smash home at the back post. Our three changes on the night saw our the Danish Helveg come on for Kily Gonzalez, Almeyda replace Farinos and Karagounis come on in place of the star of the show, who received a standing ovation from the fans. Marco Di Vaio nicked one back late in added time, but it was just a consolation and the match ended 3-2 to Inter.
