MILAN – Inter began their Coppa Italia campaign in style as they defeated Cagliari 4-1 in the Round of 16. That win means that the Nerazzurri progress to the quarter-finals.
Inter played very well and took the match by the scruff of the neck right from the first minute and the four standout performances are now the options on the MVP Poll on Twitter. Those four are Andrea Ranocchia, Borja Valero, Nicolò Barella and Romelu Lukaku.
Ranocchia grabbed his first goal of the season with a header to make it 4-1. Borja Valero scored the home side’s second and controlled the game from his midfield berth, exhibiting both class and athleticism. Nicolò Barella picked up two assists as Borja and Lukaku converted his crosses. The Belgian striker netted twice in the match: his fifth brace of the season and his 17th and 18th goals of the season.
