The Coach ahead of Fiorentina vs. Inter: "We'll go to Florence with great respect for the opponent but no fear"

APPIANOGENTILE - It was time for the usual pre-match press conference today at the Suning Training Centre with Luciano Spalletti ahead of tomorrow’s fixture at the Stadio Franchi against Fiorentina. "Every game is a test, not just Fiorentina vs. Inter," he started by saying. "We’re going through a good moment but if you don’t win games, the teams chasing can always catch up. The team needs to show consistency in how it behaves, Inter can’t rely on just one player. We have lots of players here who can make a difference, I’m thinking of our backline for example. At the moment, we’re managing games well and we’ll go to Florence with great respect for the opposition but no fear. I’m optimistic about the end of the season, the teams behind us are the ones who we would have expected to be there from the start. Therefore, we’re not worried and we accept the competition. Let’s remember that before I was here, Inter were behind teams like Roma and AC Milan in the table."

Luciano Spalletti’s analysis then turned to the conditions of some individuals: "It’s important that all of the players give their all to help the team reach its objectives. Perisic and Nainggolan are in good shape at the moment but it’s not just them. We have lots of games left, everyone will need to make their contribution. Keita’s condition is improving but we need to still wait a few days. I hope that Icardi will be back with us soon. Other players can also score goals. Joao Mario needs to score more, Vecino and Brozovic know where the goal is. Perisic? A player’s secret is their mental strength, their character. Ivan is a player who is doing everything in the right way, he knew how to start again in the correct fashion. Politano? He has great movement and he allows us to get more possession and have men over in the final third. He’s not a penalty box player but if he’s in that position, he can be useful in creating space for his teammates."
