MILAN - This evening, in the beautiful setting of Palazzo Reale (the Royal Palace of Milan), the "Bracco Cup - 39° Carletto Annovazzi" tournament was presented. This competition is set to begin on 24 January on the pitch belonging to Enotria – Inter’s historic Youth Development Centre (and Football School), which recently celebrated 110 years of history last September. Roberto Samaden and Daniele Berazzani – Director and Technical Director of Inter’s Elite Academy respectively – were among the various representatives of the teams that will take part in the competition. Also present was Cristian Chivu, who will play a key role in the event as coach of Inter’s Under-14 side. The former Inter player also received the "Enotria, un sguardo al futuro" ("Enotria, looking towards the future") award. This recognition is rich in symbolism due to the fact that it takes into account social aspects and fair play in sport when it comes to coaching new generations of players.
This is what Roberto Samaden had to say on stage: "I want to thank Enotria, our historic Youth Development Centre and Football School, for the professionalism that’s always been shown. It will be a pleasure for us to take part in this tournament." Meanwhile, Cristian Chivu added: "I'm at the start of a new journey as a Coach. I hope to transmit what I’ve learnt and the values of the club through to the kids, because for Inter it’s important to create men before they become players."
The 39th edition, which will also see a women’s competition (Bracco Cup Women’s Football), gives the kids an important platform to face some of the best amateur teams in Lombardia and the best professional youth sides. The tournament’s official start is scheduled for Thursday 24 January, with a total of 36 teams set to take part at the Centro Sportivo Enotria.
Inter are the tournament’s most successful team, so far securing 16 wins and playing in 23 finals.
