TRENTO – At the Festival dello Sport a few days before the Derby, Diego Milito spoke to Inter TV: "Every Derby is different, but it’s always a special game. I hope that Inter play well and manage to win."
He then looked back into the past: "Derbies are special in every city, each one has features specific to that derby. But it’s definitely the case that the Derby della Madonnina is one of the most significant. I’ve had the fortune of scoring many goals in these matches, but winning was always the most important thing, and we often won. I always prepared for games in the same way, whether it was the Derby or any other match. For me, maximum concentration was important as the smallest details could make the difference."
He then commented on his Derby hat-trick: "It was amazing and will remain in my heart forever because it’s never easy to score three goals in the Derby."
Milito then took a look at the upcoming games for Luciano Spalletti’s team: "Inter’s fixture list is very difficult, but with the squad they have I think they are capable of performing well in all the games they have to play. As regards Icardi, he has matured a lot and is a big player in the team. He has really displayed what he can do at Inter and he continues to perform well. I hope he carries on in this way."
Finally, he had this to say on meeting up with his former teammates: "It's wonderful to see great friends again after all this time. We’re older now, but we had great times together and looking back and remembering those times always makes me happy."
