Politano: "I'm calm, I can't wait to start"

MILAN - At the Ristorante Maio inside the Rinascente department store in Milan with its view of the Duomo from the terrace, Matteo Politano was presented to the press as a new Inter player while he also responded to questions coming in live on Facebook from fans. 

"It was a great feeling to know that I could come to Inter. It was one of the best days of my life. Already as a visiting player, San Siro was something special. I’m very happy and I can’t wait to play there again in an Inter shirt." 

"I always look to go out on the pitch and give my best, regardless of whether I score or not. My change of role in the second part of the season? I felt it went well but I’m ready to play in any role." 

"I’ve spoken with Luciano Spalletti on the phone but there will be time to get know each other in pre-season? My goal for Sassuolo? The fans reminded me of it in a jokey way but it all turned out well in the end." 

"I know Vrsaljko but I haven’t heard from him because he has other engagements at the moment. He’s an excellent player who is doing well with Atletico. Stramaccioni coached me at Roma’s youth system and he wished me luck. I’m calm and I can’t wait to start with pre-season because I’m very fired up." 

"I’m available for whatever the Coach wants, it’s an honour to be here and to have the chance to play for Inter. I’ve been on a development process and I’m happy to be at one of Europe’s best clubs. The National Team? My first aim is to do well with Inter, then what I do on the pitch will speak for itself."

"I don’t set objectives in terms of a number of goals or anything, I work each day to do well. The shirt number? It’s an important date in my family. It's the day when both my brother and wife were born."

Finally, Politano responded to live questions sent in by the fans on Facebook. "I imagine that my debut will be exciting and I can’t wait to start. I’m not superstitious. I get on the coach and go to the stadium. Milan is really beautiful, I often came here at weekends as a tourist and this played a role in my decision. In the end, I did find my way to San Siro yes. Zanetti is an Inter legend and a legend for all of football. Icardi wrote to me and that was an importante gesture and one that I really appreciated."
