Inter have lost their last two home league games (against Milan and Sassuolo): the last time they failed to win in three consecutive Serie A home matches was in April 2019 (four, against Lazio, Atalanta, Roma and Juventus), while the last time they lost three in a row on home soil was in April 2013 (Bologna, Juventus and Atalanta).
Inter are the team that have the highest win percentage against opponents currently in the lower half of the table in this Serie A season (83%, 10 out of 12) as well as being the only team unbeaten against such opponents.
Serie A title contenders Internazionale look to add another three points on Friday at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza as they host Salernitana, who are looking to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.
Internazionale sit in third place on 55 points, two points behind Napoli at the top of the table with 11 matches to play. Fifth-placed Atalanta, the first club outside of the Champions League positions, are eight points behind the Nerazzurri. Inter earned a point in their last Serie A match, drawing 0-0 at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris against Genoa, extending their winless streak to four (W0 D2 L2).
Salernitana drew 1-1 against Bologna at Stadio Arechi in their last league match to extend their winless streak to six (W0 D4 L2), putting them in 20th place on 15 points, 10 points from safety with 11 matches left. The previous Serie A fixture between the sides saw Inter triumph 5-0 at Stadio Arechi in December.
Ivan Perisic opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri in the 11th minute. Denzel Dumfries, Alexis Sánchez, Lautaro Martínez, and Roberto Gagliardini also were on target.
The form of Martínez and Edin Dzeko has been key for Inter this season. Martínez is their top scorer with 11 goals, which is the fifth highest among the league's top scorers in 2021/2022, three of those having been the crucial first of the match. Dzeko has been nearly as impressive with 10 goals.
Inter have failed to score in each of their last four games (all comps): this is the longest streak without scoring for the Nerazzurri since February 2012 (between the 5th and the 26th of February, under Claudio Ranieri). Since 1929/30, only three times in their history, have Inter failed to score in five consecutive matches across all competitions: February 2012, between February and March 1999, and between March and April 1975.
Inter are the team that have the highest win percentage against opponents currently in the lower half of the table in this Serie A season (83%, 10 out of 12) as well as being the only team unbeaten against such opponents.
