Inter yet to score against Barça in UCL

The Nerazzurri are yet to score against Barcelona in the Champions League after four meetings with the Spanish outfit. Excluding the Mundialito tournament, Inter's last European goal against the Blaugrana came in the Fairs Cup on 4 February 1970, when Roberto Boninsegna scored an 18th-minute equaliser. That game ended 1-1.

Record five consecutive UCL wins for Inter

Inter go into the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie with Barcelona on the back of five consecutive European victories, having beaten Rubin Kazan (2-0 at home), Chelsea (2-1 at home and 1-0 away) and CSKA Moscow (1-0 at home and 1-0 away) since their 2-0 away defeat to Barcelona in the group stages last 24 November. If they win again in the semi-final first leg the Nerazzurri will set a new club record of six consecutive wins in Europe's elite club competition.

Inter: five clean sheets in a row

Inter haven't conceded at home since Kalou's 51st-minute goal in the 2-1 UCL last 16 first-leg victory over Chelsea on 24 February 2010. The Nerazzurri have since kept five clean sheets at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza (Inter 0-0 Genoa, Inter 3-0 Livorno, Inter 1-0 CSKA Moscow, Inter 3-0 Bologna and Inter 2-0 Juventus). The Nerazzurri are unbeaten at home in all competitions since their 1-0 defeat to Panthinaikos on 26 November 2006, having won 31 and drawn 11 of their successive 42 games.

Barça: four consecutive clean sheets against Italian teams

Barcelona have not conceded against an Italian team since Felipe's goal in the 24th minute of their 4-1 Champions League victory over Udinese on 27 September 2005. They have since faced Italian opposition on four occasions in Europe, keeping as many clean sheets (2-0 away win over Udinese; 1-0 away win and 0-0 home draw against AC Milan; 0-0 away draw and 2-0 home win over Inter).

One Catalan KO in last 20 international games

Barcelona have lost just one of their last twenty international matches, including their European Super Cup match against Shakhtar Donetsk and the two World Club Championship games against Mexicans Atlante and Argentines Estudiantes. That sole defeat was a 2-1 reverse at home to Russian outfit Rubin Kazan in the 2009/10 Champions League group stages. In the other 19 games Barcelona have recorded 11 wins and 8 draws.

MILAN - The Nerazzurri produced the perfect performance against Barcelona, coming from behind to beat the reigning European champions 3-1 in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final.

All the pre-match hype was about how to stop Lionel Messi but it was Diego Milito who did the damage with two assists and a goal at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza to give Inter a healthy two-goal cushion going into next Wednesday's return leg.

José Mourinho's men can travel to Spain brimming with confidence after setting a new club record of six consecutive victories in Europe's elite competition.

The Portuguese tactician kept faith with the eleven starters who defeated Juventus last Friday and he was rewarded with a display that will long be remembered by the 79,609 fans who packed the stadium for the occasion.

In the opening exchanges Eto'o tested Valdes and Milito sent his follow-up wide after a couple of strange offside decisions by the match officials.

Inter were punished a minute later when ex-Nerazzurri defender Maxwell raced past Cambiasso and pulled back his cross to Pedro to slam home from just inside the area.

The hosts rallied and Milito went close again before setting up Sneijder for the equaliser. Eto'o crossed low to his strike partner and the Prince served Sneijder, who, totally unmarked in the area, saw his right-footed shot go in off Valdes' outstretched leg.

Wesley's goal gave us the confidence we needed and the boys made the perfect start to the second half when Maicon met Milito's short pass and shrugged off a challenge from Keita before slotting a low shot beyond Valdes and into the far corner.

Barcelona's efforts at a reaction were stifled by Julio Cesar who kept out a tricky shot from Messi before saving Busquet's header at point-blank range.

Milito finally got the goal he deserved on 61 minutes, stealing in to head home Sneijder's headed assist from Eto'o's right-wing cross for his fourth goal in the Champions League.

In their urgency to reduce the arrears the visitors remained lively until the final whistle and Julio Cesar had more important saves to make. He made a diving block from Messi's curling free kick and slammed the door shut on Keita's long-range effort before saving Pedro's overhead kick.

On the one occasion he was caught out of position Inter had Lucio to thank for a last-gasp clearance from Piquè.

Inter could have scored a fourth on the counter-attack but Sneijder lost control of the ball with Balotelli lurking unmarked.
