46' Dejan Stankovic has a go from distance. His cross-shot is wide.
46' Roma bring on Aleandro Rosi for Mirko Vucinic.

42' Inter replace Nicolas Burdisso with Julio Cruz.
42' Roma win their eleventh corner after Chivu wins a duel with Totti.
39' Aquilani cleans up after Doni spills Figo's free kick from the left.
36' In 68.4% percent of cases, the team to score first in an Italian Super Cup goes on to lift the trophy. Not a good omen for Inter, but we did come back from three goals down last year.
36' Vucinic rises in the area and heads over Totti's cross when it would have been easier to score.
35' Roma close to a second with Vucinic but Julio Cesar makes a great reflex save.
33' Julio Cesar goes the right way but Daniele De Rossi's right-foot shot from the spot finds the bottom left corner.
32' Penalty. Burdisso brings down Totti in the area and Rosetti points to the spot.
30' Materazzi does well to block a fierce strike from Totti that could well have finished up in the back of the net. Yet another corner for Roma.
29' Roma make the substitution they wanted to make a few minutes ago. Holding midfielder Matteo Brighi replaces attacking midfielder Ludovic Giuly. Aquilani will push into a more attacking role for the Giallorossi.
28' Suazo fires yards wide from 20 metres.
27' Roma remain with eleven men on the pitch, but obviously won't be able to bring on Italy international Perrotta.
26' Incredible scenes at the Meazza. Roma sub Simone Perrotta, who was waiting to come on, is sent off!
25' Ibrahimovic serves Figo with a pin-point pass to the Portuguese ace. He runs on goal and tries to take the ball past Doni but the Roma keeper intercepts. Our best chance of the game.
24' With an outstretched leg Materazzi blocks a Taddei cross and concedes a corner.
22' Another change at San Siro. Mancini brings on Esteban Cambiasso for Patrick Vieira.
20' Great chance for Inter. An unmarked Suazo rises in the box to head Burdisso's excellent right-wing cross straight at Doni.

14' No need for the stretcher as Totti gets to his feet and slowly walks to the sideline.
14' The Roma captain isn't back on his feet yet. On comes the stretcher.
13' Materazzi booked for pushing over Totti.
11' Figo threads down the left for Ibrahimovic who gets a low cross in from the edge of the area. Panucci intercepts to deny Suazo a tap-in.
10' De Rossi makes a headed clearance from Figo's inswinging left-wing free kick.
9' Another free kick, this time for a Cassetti shove on Ibrahimovic.
9' Rosetti gives Taddei a telling-off for a bad challenge on Zanetti.
8' Figo replaces Olivier Dacourt. An attacking midfielder for a holding midfielder.
7' Totti slips during his run-up. Taddei tries to deflect in his captain's effort, but fails.
7' Luis Figo is set to come on but the substitution will take place after the free kick.
6' Free kick to Roma for a foul by ex-Giallorossi midfielder Dacourt on Francesco Totti.
5' Roma come straight back at Inter and once again it's Giuly who creates the danger. He lifts the ball over Julio Cesar but fortunately for us it's over the bar.
4' Another chance for Suazo. Chivu's high outswinger from the left is headed into the middle by Ibrahimovic and the Honduran tries an overhead kick. It's over.
3' Good chance for the Nerazzurri. Suazo, put through by Chivu, tries to poke through the legs of Doni but the Brazilian keeper blocks.
1' Inter get the second half going.

Second Super Cup between Inter and Roma

Inter and Roma contest an Italian Super Cup for the second time in the history of the competition. There have also been two Super Cup clashes between AC Milan and Sampdoria (1988 & 1994), AC Milan and Parma (1992 & 1999), and Juventus and Parma (1995 & 2002).

Just 4 Super Cup wins for Coppa Italia holders

Sunday's match at the Meazza is the 20th Italian Super Cup, the annual one-off clash between the league champions and domestic cup holders. The Scudetto winners have won the Super Cup on 15 occasions, with the Coppa Italia holders victorious on 4 occasions (Fiorentina in 1996, Lazio in 1998, Parma in 1999 and Internazionale in 2005).

Fifth Super Cup appearance for Inter, fourth for Roma

Inter and Roma are two of the eleven teams who have taken part in an Italian Super Cup. Sunday's match at the Meazza is the Nerazzurri's fifth Super Cup appearance and Roma's fourth. Inter have won three out of the four Super Cup matches played, beating Sampdoria 2-0 in 1989, Juventus 1-0 a.e.t. two years ago, and Roma 4-3 a.e.t. last season. They lost 4-3 to Lazio at the Olimpico in 2000. The Giallorossi lost 1-0 to Samp in 1991 and beat Fiorentina a decade later to lift the trophy, losing to Inter in 2006. AC Milan hold the record for the most Super Cup appearances: 8.

Mancini chasing hat-trick of Super Cups

Of the eleven coaches who have won an Italian Super Cup, Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi have lifted the trophy 4 times each. Capello won three with AC Milan and one with Roma while all four of Lippi's Super Cup triumphs came with Juventus. Sven Goran Eriksson has coached teams to 2 Super Cup victories, as has Inter coach Roberto Mancini who is on a hat-trick of consecutive trophies after wins over Juventus and Roma. Ancelotti, Bigon, Boskov, Malesani, Ranieri, Sacchi and Trapattoni have each won the competition once. This year's Super Cup is Roma coach Spalletti's second after last season's 4-3 defeat to Inter.

Three players hold record for Super Cup appearances

Alessandro Costacurta, Alessandro Del Piero and Paolo Maldini have each played in 6 Italian Super Cup matches - more than any other player. This statistic will remain unchanged until at least next year as there are no players in the Inter or Roma squads who are currently on 5 Super Cup appearances.

Inter out to match Milan record

A win over Roma on Sunday will see Inter equal AC Milan's record of three consecutive Italian Super Cup triumphs. The Rossoneri won it in 1992, 1993 and 1994 with victories over Parma (2-1), Torino (1-0) and Sampdoria (5-4 on penalties after a 1-1 draw).

Mancini to emulate Capello?

If Inter become the second team to win three Italian Super Cups in a row, Roberto Mancini will become the second coach to achieve a hat-trick of consecutive triumphs after Fabio Capello who led AC Milan to victories in 1992, 1993 and 1994.

Super Cup top scorers: Del Piero & Shevchenko

Alessandro Del Piero and Andriy Shevchenko are the two Italian Super Cup top scorers, with three goals apiece. Del Piero scored once in Juventus' 2-1 win over Lazio in 1998 and twice in the 2-1 victory against Parma in 2002. Shevchenko scored a hat-trick in the Rossoneri's 3-0 win against Lazio in 2004.

Second Super Cup final on 19 August after Roma's win in 2001

The 2007 Italian Super Cup has been played on 19 August on one previous occasion - in 2001 when Fabio Capello's Roma beat Roberto Mancini's Fiorentina 3-0 with goals from Candela, Montella and Totti.

Materazzi set for 200th appearance on 34th birthday

If he plays against Roma in Sunday's Super Cup, Marco Materazzi will have two reasons to celebrate. Besides it being his 34th birthday, the Italy defender will reach a milestone 200 appearances for Inter. Materazzi first pulled on a Nerazzurri shirt on 26 August 2001 when Inter defeated Perugia 4-1. He has played 133 matches for Inter in Italy's Serie A, 14 in the Coppa Italia, 2 in the Italian Super Cup and 50 in Europe. He has scored 17 goals in his six seasons at Inter.

Inter on target in 11 consecutive home games

The last time Inter failed to score at home was last 1 February when they were held to a goalless draw by Sampdoria in the Coppa Italia. Mancini's team have scored in each of their 11 home matches since that date, netting a total of 23 goals.

Adriano, Cruz, Recoba, Vieira & goals against Roma

There are four players in the 2007/08 Inter squad who count Roma among their favourite targets. Of his 98 goals since arriving in Italy, Adriano has scored 6 against the Giallorossi and Juventus. Cruz, currently on 83 goals, has scored 6 against Roma and Udinese. Recoba has scored 83 goals since moving to Italy, netting 6 against Roma, Bologna, Empoli and Lecce. Vieira has scored 9 goals for Italian clubs. He hit a brace against Roma in last season's Super Cup.

Inter, Crespo: two nightmares for Doni

Roma goalkeeper Doni has conceded 79 goals since moving to Italy. He has let in 17 (21.5%) in games against Inter - more than any other team. Hernan Crespo scored five goals against Doni last season to become the Brazilian goalkeeper's most feared opponent.

MILAN - Roma defeated Inter by a single goal at San Siro to win the 2007 Italian Super Cup.

Daniele De Rossi scored a 78th-minute penalty to prevent Inter from becoming the second team to win the competition for three years running after AC Milan who completed a hat-trick of Super Cup victories from 1992-1994.

The Coppa Italia holders dominated the opening period against the Italian champions with French midfielder Ludovic Giuly going close on three occasions in the first thirty minutes.

Inter had to wait until the 38th minute for their first chance on goal, Zlatan Ibrahimovic's low shot from Suazo's cut-back flashing just wide.

The Swedish forward had a second chance before the break but dragged wide a Stankovic pass into space.

If the opening stages of the first half belonged to Giuly in terms of scoring chances, the first twenty minutes of the second belonged to Suazo.

Put through by Chivu three minutes in, he tried to poke through the legs of Doni but the Brazilian keeper blocked.

The Honduran then turned on the style with an overhead kick from Ibrahimovic's headed pass before heading Burdisso's pin-point cross straight at the keeper.

Not to be outdone, Giuly received in the area and lifted his shot over Julio Cesar and the woodwork.

But Inter's best chance of the game fell to second-half sub Luis Figo. The Portuguese ace was clear through on goal from Ibrahimovic's sublime pass but Doni made a last-gasp intervention to win the ball.

On 71 minutes, Roma substitute Simone Perrotta was dismissed for dissent before coming on, meaning the Giallorossi could continue with eleven men.

Spalletti's side got their winning goal 12 minutes from time when De Rossi beat Julio Cesar from the spot after a Burdisso foul on Totti.
