LIVORNO - Inter came from behind to defeat Livorno 2-1 at the Stadio Armando Picchi.

Stankovic and Grosso struck the woodwork either side of Lucarelli's opener before Cruz brought the sides on equal terms before half time.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic capped an incredible performance with the winning goal from a second-half free kick to increase the gap at the top of the table to 16 points as second-placed Roma held Ascoli 1-1.

With Crespo out suspended and Adriano not fully fit, Roberto Mancini partnered Cruz and Ibrahimovic in attack. The Inter coach recalled Julio Cesar in goal, with an Italo-Argentine defence of Burdisso, Materazzi, Samuel and Grosso behind a four-man midfield of Zanetti, Dacourt, Stankovic and Maxwell.

Inter went close to an opener when Dejan Stankovic forced a smothering save from Amelia after his thunderous 20-yard effort bounced back off the left post.

But Livorno edged in front in the 27th minute when Cristiano Lucarelli bent a powerful free kick round the wall and out of Julio Cesar's reach.

Grosso was presented with a good chance for an equaliser but his right-foot shot hit the upright after an Inter counter involving Zanetti and Cruz.

Inter were level within eight minutes of the Tuscans' opener when Cruz lashed home on the turn from Ibrahimovic's backheeled pass from a Grosso cross.

Ibra sealed victory on 66 minutes with an unstoppable low free kick that went under the Livorno wall and into the left corner via Amaranto defender Rezaei.

The Tuscans fought hard for an equalising goal, going close through Passoni who crashed his 20-yard volley narrowly wide.

Drama ensued in the closing stages as Maicon scuppered his chances of playing in next weekend's Milan derby after being dismissed for clapping Morganti after a booking. Inter coach Roberto Mancini followed the Brazilian full-back into the tunnel for protesting over the referee's decision.
