A mountain cannot be torn down: a mountain stands solid, strong and immovable in the face of all kinds of adversity. Yann-Aurel Bisseck, the 196 cm tall German big man, who has had to face many obstacles in his career, knows this well.
Born in Cologne on 29 November 2000 to Cameroonian parents, as a child Yann dreamed of becoming a doctor. Football was just fun for him: Bisseck began to really believe in his abilities in the Cologne Under-17 team, thanks to the trust of coach Markus Daun. It was here that Yann took off: a sudden and surprising growth, which led him to make his first-team debut in 2017 at only 16 years and 11 months against Hertha Berlin, becoming the youngest German rookie in Bundesliga history. Ninety minutes in which Yann completed 96% of the passes attempted and won all his duels: one in particular, with his header against Davie Selke, definitively proved him capable.
Cologne, however, struggled to stay out of the relegation zone and the young Bisseck only made three appearances. It was a complicated period for Yann, but he found an example to follow in Claudio Pizarro, the Bundesliga legend and his neighbour in the Cologne dressing room at the time. The following season Bisseck moved on loan to Holstein Kiel, in the second division, but an injury kept him off the pitch for a long time. Yann had to fight for his career: he did so first in the Netherlands, at Roda Kerkrade, then especially at Vitoria Guimaraes in the 2020/21 season.
In Portugal, Bisseck's dream seemed to grow fainter and fainter: Yann struggled to settle in and had to cope with a new injury, but he found the strength to start again, also thanks to the help of his second-team mates. A period that, according to him, helped him to become stronger, especially mentally.
The turning point came in the summer of 2021, when Cologne sold him to Aarhus, Denmark: Bisseck exploded, played 68 matches in two years and became a pillar of the Danish team. His performances also earned him a call-up to the German Under-21 team, of which he soon became captain.
Personality, physique and great skill with both feet: David Nielsen, his first coach at Aarhus recently stated that Bisseck is the prototype of the modern defender, a real 'walking mountain'.
The mountain has withstood all adversities: now the time has come for Yann to begin his new Nerazzurri adventure.
