Women, Roma 2 - 1 Inter: bittersweet start in the Poule Scudetto

A bittersweet start for Inter Women in the Poule Scudetto, the second phase of the Serie A Femminile eBay 2024/25. Piovani’s side faced Roma away from home on the second matchday, in a game which saw the Giallorosse come back from behind to win. The Nerazzurre went ahead through Wullaert after just six minutes of player and had chances to double their lead. However, Giugliano equalised for the home side from the penalty spot in the 68th minute. Then, just seconds before the final whistle, Di Guglielmo won it for the hosts in the 95th minute.

THE MATCH

One month after the final match of the first-phase of the League, in which we finished second, Inter took to the field again . At Stadio "Tre Fontane", the team approached the game in the right way, with character and bravery as Piovani's side attacked and pressed to find the opener just six minutes in with a well-constructed goal: Csiszar delivered a perfect pass for the first time hit from Wullaert who put the Nerazzurre ahead. Roma responded with a Giugliano effort which whistled past the post, before making a triple substitution, bringing on Pilgrim, Corelli and Di Guglielmo to shake things up. Just after an hour of play the match intensified: in the 65th minute, Inter nearly doubled their lead through Merlo while Dragoni hit the bar for the home side. In the following play, Roma were awarded a penalty for Milinkovic's tackle on Viens and Giugliano converted from the spot. Inter kept pushing through Tomaselli, Cambiaghi (who had a close range effort saved) and Karchouni (whose right-footed strike went just wide).
