Women, Nerazzurre triumph: Inter 3 - 0 Sassuolo

Inter beat Sassuolo in a convincing manner, in a match where the win was never really in doubt, with three goals scored, none conceded, the woodwork hit twice and many goalscoring chances. The Nerazzurre are now level with Roma on 28 points in the league thanks to goals from Andrés in the first half and then Tomaselli and Polli in the second half.

At the Arena Civica di Milano, the first half began with a good chance for Piovani's side just after the 15 minute mark. Tomaselli played in Wullaert whose effort with the outside of her right foot went just wide. The Nerazzurre pushed and found the breakthrough in the 26th minute with a brilliant header from Andrés as she converted Wullaert's corner. Sassuolo struggled to respond and Inter increased their pressure. On the half-hour mark, Magull was denied by the crossbar from a free-kick. Just before the break, Milinkovic attempted a long-range effort which sailed over the bar. The approach in the second half was perfect as the Nerazzurre were aggressive and concentrated. Piovani's side looked to double their lead straight away and came close in the 48th minute as they hit the woodwork after Wullaert's strike from distance. They then found their second goal in the 52nd minute thanks to a goal from Martina Tomaselli who celebrated her 100th appearance in Serie A with a first-time strike into the far corner past Durand. The Neroverde goalkeeper managed to deny a third goal for Inter by saving against Wullaert who was through on goal, but she could do nothing to deny Polli who went on to score Inter's third of the match. The goal stemmed from a brilliant piece of play starting with Bowen's cross, a missed attempt by Merlo, a shot from Magull and then the decisive finish from Durand's rebound. Sassuolo attempted to reply but Rúnarsdóttir stood firm, denying close-range efforts from Missipo and Monterubbiano. The match finished with Inter on the attack and coming close to a fourth goal as Bugeja was denied by Durand. The Nerazzurri now had 28 points and are level with Roma, setting the stage nicely for a direct clash on the next Serie A matchday.
