Women, Inter 1 - 1 Roma. Karchouni equalises in the 88th minute

Inter and Roma played out an intense, hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Arena Civica on matchday 5 in the league. The Giallorosse opened the scoring in the 42nd minute with an own-goal from Milinkovic. Karchouni scored the Nerazzurre's all-important and hugely deserved equaliser from the penalty spot in the 88th minute. Inter now have 11 points in third, behind Juventus and Fiorentina.

The two sides got straight into proceedings and it was an intense encounter from the off. The first chance of the game fell to Roma, with Dragoni hitting it down the middle in the 18th minute. The Nerazzurre responded moments later as Serturini let fly from the edge of the area, but her effort was straight at the goalkeeper.

On the half-hour mark, Haavi twice tested the hosts: first, she sent a long-range effort just wide before drawing a brilliant stop from Runarsdottir. The reigning champions of Italy got their noses in front in the 42nd minute. There was no short amount of luck about the goal: Giugliano's corner kick was swung in towards Dragoni, who rose to meet it alongside Milinkovic. Dragoni's header struck the Inter defender and it wrongfooted Runarsdotter. Before the referee blew the whistle for half-time, Giugliano saw her close-range effort saved again by the Nerazzurre's goalkeeper.

Piovani's side looked completely different to start the second half as they pushed hard, playing positive football. After five minutes, Wullaert led the hosts on the break and fed Cambiaghi, who sent her shot sailing just wide of the upright. Inter had two big chances to equalise between the 57th and 62nd minute: the first was a header from Robustellini, which was saved brilliantly by Ceasar, and then Wullaert's shot from the edge of the box whistled narrowly wide. Midway into the second half, the game wound down to a period of calm but, in the 87th minute, there came the moment that would change the Nerazzurre's fortunes. Polli was brought down in the area by Minami and the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot. Karchouni stepped up to take it and sent Ceasar the wrong way to bring Inter level. Neither side could carve out another chance during the five minutes of stoppage time.
