Inter Women
— SundayThe Nerazzurre beat Lazio 1-0 on Matchday 9, reaching 18 points. It’s Inter's 50th Serie A victory, with Robustellini’s goal making the difference
Inter returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over Lazio, taking their points tally to 18 and climbing to third place, level with Roma. The match, which was part of Matchday 9 in Serie A, was decided by Robustellini’s goal midway through the first half.
Piovani's team controlled the first half well, with Csiszàr making her return to the starting lineup. The Nerazzurre displayed great build-up play, always looking for offensive connections. The first real chance came after 20 minutes when Cambiaghi, set up by Wullaert, had a shot blocked by Lazio’s goalkeeper Cetinja. Inter grew in confidence, and at the 30-minute mark, Robustellini scored the opening goal, following up on a shot by Wullaert to notch her second goal of the season. The goal came as part of a well-executed team move, started by Serturini’s recovery, and involving Bowen, Wullaert, and Robustellini.
Lazio’s response came in the form of a volley from Erikssen, which was comfortably saved by Rúnarsdóttir. Just before halftime, Wullaert had another opportunity, after being set up by Cambiaghi, but her effort narrowly missed the target.
The second half saw the match come to life, with both teams creating several chances. Lazio became more aggressive, and in the 57th minute, they nearly equalized when Le Bihan’s long-range shot hit the post, just to the right of Rúnarsdóttir. Two minutes later, it was Inter’s turn to hit the woodwork when Wullaert’s shot rebounded off the post, following a good save from Cetinja.
The turning point came in the 70th minute when the referee awarded Lazio a penalty for a foul by Pedersen on Visentin. However, Rúnarsdóttir produced a fantastic save, diving to her left to deny Connolly and preserve Inter’s lead.
The Nerazzurre held onto their advantage, and in the closing moments, Magull had a chance to seal the game but was thwarted by Cetinja. After four minutes of added time, Inter celebrated their 50th Serie A win and moved up to 18 points in the standings.
