Inter Women
— Oct 20th 2024The big fixture of matchday 7 ended goalless
The big game on matchday 7 of the Women’s Serie A 2024/25 ended goalless. Inter and Juventus were at a stalemate after a huge performance defined by intensity and balance. There are some big regrets for the Nerazzurre who went close to a goal through a Merlo ball that hit the post. Piovani’s side put in a good performance, especially in the second half, creating several chances. Inter are still third in the table, four points behind the Bianconere who continue to lead on 19 points.
The first half was characterised by an intense pace but a lack of clarity up front. The two sides were putting in a physical and very even performance. The first chance came for the Nerazzurre: Serturini for Magull who didn’t quite get enough on her shot from a good position. Juventus had a go a few minutes later with Bonansea’s shot ending up in the arms of Runarsdottir. Before the end of the first 45, the Bianconere had chances through Girelli and Cantore who was met by the Inter defensive line.
The second half continued much like the first with both sides paying great attention to not conceding, not giving even an inch. The Nerazzurre started well with Cambiaghi having two chances: first her shot from afar sailed too straight and then her turning volley went just wide. In the 54th minute, Piovani’s side had a big chance: Magull crossed from the right to Tomaselli who couldn’t get the shot away. The Bianconere got into the game with Beccari, though not too convincingly, whose shot from outside the box was no trouble for the Nerazzurre keeper. In the 77th minute, Inter went close to taking the lead through Merlo whose cross-come-shot smacked the crossbar. Another chance apiece before the final whistle: Bertoli in a good position was blocked by the Bianconere defence whilst Lehmann shot just wide.
