Frattesi scores a stoppage - time winner in Udine!
Team
— Apr 8th 2024The Nerazzurri stage a second-half fightback to beat Udinese 2-1 and restore their 14-point advantage over second place!
This Inter side just keeps on pushing. Davide Frattesi’s 95th-minute finish completed a second-half comeback and secured three vital points for the Nerazzurri, who have restored their 14-point lead over AC Milan with seven matches to go. Just like against Hellas, Davide Frattesi tapped home in stoppage time to trigger the Nerazzurri celebrations in Udine.
Three precious points added to the tally, and Inzaghi’s men had to stage a second-half fightback to get them. Udinese surprisingly took the lead at the end of the first half, with a shot from Samardzic deflecting off Carlos Augusto, wrongfooting Sommer and ending in the net. It was completely against the run of play in a match the Nerazzurri dominated: Inter finished the game with 23 shots (compared to Udinese’s three), 77% possession and an Expected Goals total of 3.34 (just 0.08 for the hosts).
After the restart, Carlos Augusto had an early goal ruled out for offside, before Calhanoglu brought Inter level from the penalty spot. The Nerazzurri laid siege on the Udinese goal and were finally rewarded for their perseverance: Lautaro’s right-footed effort was touched onto the post by Okoye, but Frattesi was on hand to win it late in the day. Inter continue to fly.
