The trophy has touched down in Milan: after, the exposition in Piazza Duomo and the top management’s meeting with the media at San Siro.

The FIFA Club World Cup is getting closer: the first, historical edition of the Club World Cup is almost here, with the 14 June written in calendars by fans around the World. Inter will be one of 32 teams involved in the FIFA tournament.

The Nerazzuri had the honour of being one of the spots selected for the Trophy Tour. After Paris, Milan welcomed the trophy that will be lifted high into the sky at the MetLife Stadium in Easy Rutherford on 13 July. At the Club World Cup, Inter will play Monterrey, Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate in Group E, with Los Angeles and Seattle being the two cities hosting the Nerazzurri’s games.

To celebrate the Trophy Tour, Inter has organised a range of events: throughout the day on Friday, the trophy was placed on one of the most scenic terraces of Piazza Duomo in Milan, one of the most iconic and symbolic places in the city. Throughout the day on Saturday, Inter’s top management met with some of the FIFA delegation at San Siro for an exclusive event, in the presence of both national and international press. The President and CEO Giuseppe Marotta, the Vice President Javier Zanetti and Chief Revenue Office Giorgio Ricchi pointed out the club’s approach to the FIFA Club World Cup. The trophy will also take centre stage for the match against Cagliari.

“The Club World Cup is a turning point in international football: for the first time, the competition will involve 32 squads from five continents. We are very proud to be one of only two squads representing Italy and this is because of all of our hard work over the last five years: we deserve this spot. The Club World Cup will be a unique experience in the middle of two different seasons, with a standout format that will allow us to play the best squads in the World. Inter is a big club and our history speaks for itself: we are playing in every competition with upmost concentration and drive to do well and to win, bringing the Inter name to the top level level both in Europe, and around the World. For us, it’s a case of pride, but also of responsibility, ensuring that our colours are represented within such a prestigious competition. It is the first time that we will compete in a competition between two seasons and this is something that we are not used to but Simone Inzaghi and his staff are doing really focused work to make sure that the squad will arrive to the World Cup in the best way possible. It is undeniable that Italian football has thrived in the most high-level European competitions, but our league has its own traditions, in terms of history but also ideas. In the last few years, also thanks to foreign investment in Serie A, Italian football is beginning to grow again. We still have a way to go, and this is a great step in terms of infrastructure, and we are also working in this direction. ”

Giuseppe Marotta, Presidente e CEO

“We are so happy that the trophy is here, and we would like to thank FIFA for this. As Inter, we are proud to be part of this competition, this is a great opportunity for us. As a player I won the Club World Cup in 2010: I still remember this trophy fondly today. Winning the Club World Cup is something truly special, because it isn’t often that you play against teams from other continents in such an important competition. I will never forget the joy of becoming the best in the World and raising the trophy to the sky, after an incredible year in which we won the Treble. We will play teams that will give their all in the United States. I am, however, sure that our boys will be ready to show what they’re made of in all of the group stage games. Inter has many supporters, including in the United States and in Latin America, and I’m sure that we will be able to hear them in the stadiums, pushing our team in the key moments. ”

Javier Zanetti, Vice President

“It is really great having the trophy here with us, we took it straight away to Piazza Duomo, to associate it with our city and our colours. What we expect is a unique tournament, that will have unique opportunities, also off of the pitch. Inter has fans across the whole World: our fan base is made up of more than 530 million people, with a record growth in the last few years. If we all came together, we would need about 415 Milans to host everybody. It is a Nerazzurri world, also proved by the new record numbers of Inter Club sign-ups: we now have 228,220 members, with 1128 Clubs around the World. It is a very meaningful statistic and it represents our growth and also our position as one of the World’s top 10 strongest football brands: we are the only Italian club in the top 10. In the United States, we have a potential of around 25 million fans: of all the teams participating in the Club World Cup, we are fifth place in terms of fans in the USA. We registered an increase of 45% in Inter club members in North America. We also have another interesting statistic: in the United States, we now have the highest percentage of fans between 16 and 24 years old than any other Italian club. Our presence in the United States is important: other than our Inter Clubs, we also have our Inter Academies: in Orange County, for example, we have Inter Academy Rockers, which opened at the start of the season, and now has 200 boys and girls who train with the same methods and values as our youth sector. The competition which will be played in June and July will be innovative, not only in terms of sport, but also in terms of global coverage. The digital transformation is redefining how fans consume sports content, and the fact that DAZN is the exclusive global broadcaster of FCWC 2025 is a great example of this new model. To plan for our permanent presence in the United States, we will be launching several strategies such as fan engagement activities, and exclusive events, that will involve both Inter members, and those in local communities, as well as people interested in Italian culture and tradition. To engage with local communities, we will also be employing a digital strategy which will involve local talents, hosts, and collaborations with international stars from the USA. ”
