It’s been a weekend filled with indescribable emotions and lots of joy. Inter wonder at Tarragona in the “Be My Referee” tournament, a project which prepares people with learning difficulties with the tools to become referees. This was the first tournament officiated by referee’s with learning difficulties: the event transcended sport, and was made with the objective of inspiring the entire sporting world to embrace equality and inclusion. The Nerazzurri won 2-1 in the final against Real Madrid, lifting the cup to the sky and kicking off some big celebrations. The tournament was made up of two groups of three teams in which the group winners faced off in a final. The Nerazzurri’s campaign started with a 1-1 draw against Barcelona and then with a 5-1 win over Lleida. Despite being on level points with the Catalan side, Inter managed to get to the final by beating them on penalties. Inter was the only international club to have taken part in the project “Fundación Mi Alex”, by “Down España” and “AGF Genuine Experiences”, with the objective of inspiring the sporting community to be part of change, showing that football can be a space for everyone.
