At 20:00 CET (22:00 AST) on Wednesday 18 January, Inter will face Milan at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in the 35th edition of the Supercoppa Italiana, a trophy that the Nerazzurri won last season.
SCHEDULE ON THE EVE OF THE GAME
On Tuesday 17 January, the following activities are scheduled (all times CET):
8:30: AC Milan official press conference | King Fahd International Stadium
9:30: FC Internazionale Milano official press conference | King Fahd International Stadium

14:30: FC Internazionale Milano training | Prince Faisal Stadium
THE STADIUM
The upcoming showdown between Inter and Milan will be played at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The Supercoppa is once again taking place on Saudi soil, where it was also contested in 2018/19, with Juventus defeating Milan at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, and 2019/20, when Lazio got the better of the Bianconeri at the King Saud University Stadium in Riyadh.
In general, the Supercoppa is set to be played for the twelfth time abroad. Inter have been involved in two editions outside of Italy: the Nerazzurri took on both Lazio and Milan in Beijing in 2009/10 and 2011/12, respectively.
RULES: EXTRA TIME AND PENALTIES
If the match finishes level after 90 minutes, there will be 30 minutes of extra time. If the two teams still can't be separated, penalties will decide the showdown.
SUBSTITUTIONS: SIXTH CHANGE PERMITTED IN EXTRA TIME
As is the case in the league, the teams will be able to make five substitutions across three different slots, not counting half-time. If the match goes beyond normal time, a fourth slot for substitutions will be made available (not counting any changes made before the start of the first and second halves of extra time). A sixth substitution will be allowed during the additional 30 minutes.
PREVIOUS EDITIONS
The game in Riyadh will be Inter's eleventh involvement in the Supercoppa Italiana after first competing for the trophy in 1988. The Nerazzurri have won it on six occasions: in 1989, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2021.
Milan have taken part in the Supercoppa twelve times, emerging victorious on seven occasions: in 1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2004, 2011 and 2016.
Inter and Milan have faced each other in the Supercoppa Italiana just once: the Rossoneri won 2-1 at the Beijing National Stadium in 2011. Sneijder's goal for the Nerazzurri wasn't enough in that match.
In their ten involvements in the competition - seven of which were between 2005 and 2011 - Inter have played extra time on four occasions, beating Roma on penalties in 2008 and winning within 120 minutes the other three times. This was the case last season as they came from behind to beat Juventus at San Siro thanks to a Lautaro Martinez penalty and a 121st-minute goal from Alexis Sanchez.
Juventus 9 (1995, 1997, 2002, 2003, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020) Milan 7 (1988, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2004, 2011, 2016) Inter 6 (1989, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2021) Lazio 5 (1998, 2000, 2009, 2017, 2019) Roma 2 (2001, 2007) Napoli 2 (1990, 2014) Sampdoria 1 (1991) Parma 1 (1999) Fiorentina (1996)
