— Jan 18th 2023The thoughts of the Coach after the Nerazzurri's Supercoppa triumph
History has repeated itself a year on, as Inter have lifted the Supercoppa Italiana for the seventh time in its history, following a fantastic performance and three goals. At the end of the final, Simone Inzaghi, who is now joint-top along with Marcello Lippi and Fabio Capello for the number of Supercoppa titles won as a Head Coach (four), spoke about his joy in clinching the Nerazzurri's second consecutive cup win:
“We put in a perfect performance. We were both fluid and compact, and we have won a very important cup. It was our second objective of the season after reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, and it was great to see us play so well. Tonight, we will celebrate this trophy because to win like this against AC Milan in a final is something special. It is really pleasing to have won in this fashion against a good opponent, so we will celebrate tonight and then after that look ahead to our forthcoming games. We must thank the club, our families, the players who have got us to this final and, of course, the fans who have come all this way. Night likes this we had last year, but tonight was also a Derby, so I thank the players for being so focused and playing so well. I’m really proud of the boys and my staff because tonight they were incredible. We played a focused, aggressive game, worked ever so hard, and were very determined. We pushed ourselves and we put in the perfect performance. Now we have to continue in this way.”
