Inter hit four: Simone Inzaghi's side put on a dazzling display at Lecce, confirming their place at the top of the table. The win over the Salentini was another impressive performance, from a long list, and one that saw some incredible stats and numbers come out of it.
LAUTARO 100 AND 101
It's been an extraordinary season for Lautaro Martinez, who scored his 100th and 101st goals in Serie A with Inter in the match against Lecce. The Nerazzurri captain became the ninth player in history to reach the milestone of 100 goals with a single team in the league before turning 27. In the last three seasons, the Argentine striker has also scored the most goals in the competition: 64, at least 15 more than anyone else. Finally, with 22 goals in 23 matches the Nerazzurri number 10 has surpassed the record of goals scored in a single season in Serie A: before today, his maximum tally was 21 goals. Incredible numbers that demonstrate to all the talent, determination and charisma of a player who is leading Simone Inzaghi's team on the pitch.
NUMBERS
The Nerazzurri's positive league run continues. With the four-goal haul at the stadio Via Del Mare, 66 points have been collected in 25 Serie A games: only in 2006/07 have they earned more after the same number of matches in the competition. On that occasion, they had 67, after 21 wins and four draws. For the first time in their history in Serie A, Inter have scored in 20 consecutive away matches in the competition. Since January 2023, no team has won more away games than Inter in Europe's top-five leagues: 16, like Manchester City. Furthermore, the defensive solidity of Simone Inzaghi's team is reflected in the following figure: 16 clean sheets in 25 league games this season. In Nerazzurri history, it is only the second time in Serie A, with 16 collected also in 1988/89 after the same number of matches.
FRATTESI, GOALS AND ASSISTS
A great performance by Davide Frattesi. The Nerazzurri midfielder scored one and provided one assist. It is the second time he has achieved this double in a single Serie A game.
THE DIMARCO FACTOR
Another superlative game for Federico Dimarco, whoc once again showed he is one of the side's most effective attacking weapons. In the last three Serie A season, he is the second-highest defender to have been involved in goals: 20,with nine goals himself and eleven assists.
DE VRIJ'S HEADERS
Reliability and a strong finishing vein: since his first goal in Serie A, scored on 11 September 2016 against Chievo, Stefan de Vrij is the highest-goalscoring defender of headed goals in the competition: 13.
