Team
— Jan 7th 2024El Toro goals, Nerazzurri assists and the midway stage of the season
The 2-1 win over Hellas Verona has seen us reach the halfway point of the season. Inter sit top of the table on 48 points, having scored 44 goals and conceded just nine.
MIDWAY POINT
For the 18th time in its history, Inter have ended the first half of the Serie A season in first place. Only Juventus (28) have done better than the Nerazzurri in the league' history. This is the third time in the three-points-for-a-win era that Inter have won at least 48 points in the first 19 games played in a Serie A tournament: the previous times occurred in the 2006/07 (51) and 2007/08 seasons (49).
INTER MINUTES AND FRATTESI TIME
In this campaign, Inter have scored twelve goals in the last 15 minutes of play: only Roma, with 15, have done better than Inzaghi's men. The 93rd minute, in particular, is Davide Frattesi's minute: the midfielder has scored two league goals for Inter, both arriving three minutes after the 90th minute. The first came in the 5-1 derby win against AC Milan last September.
TORO IS BACK
Scorer of the Nerazzurri's first goal of 2024, Lautaro Martinez has become the second Inter player, since Serie A returned to 20 teams, to score more than 15 goals (16 for El Toro) in the first half of the season. Before him, Mauro Icardi achieved it in 2017/18 with 17 goals. Lautaro Martinez is one of only three players in Europe's top five leagues to score more than 15 goals in each of the last four seasons (2020/21 to 2023/24). The others are PSG's Kylian Mbappé and Bayern Munich's Harry Kane.
ASSIST MEN
Inter are the only Serie A side this season to boast at least two players with at least five assists: Marcus Thuram (six) and Henrikh Mkhitaryan (five).
