MILAN – Inter Women players are set to wear a special kit that depicts them as children to inspire young girls to believe in their dreams. For the away trip to face Roma on Sunday 15 October, the players will take to the pitch with a special jersey featuring a photo collage of them as children in the number design on the back.
The initiative was designed with the aim of taking part in the #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign, which has reached 47 million people all over the globe since 2021. It transmits the motivational values underpinning the international project in a concrete and innovative way, while giving young girls reason for encouragement through sharing stories about successful women on social media.
Inter Women’s players are therefore becoming inspirational role models for future generations, encouraging them to follow their talents and build a future in line with their aspirations.
The #ThisLittleGirlIsMe campaign is run by Inspiring Girls and promoted in Italy by Valore D, the first group of businesses promoting gender equality and an inclusive culture for business growth and the country’s development as a whole. Inter has decided to take part in the project and elevate it to a new level with a one-of-a-kind activation, which will see the campaign become an integral part of a football match for the first time. Besides the special jersey, for the trip to Roma, there have been changes to some of the assets and graphics normally used on the club’s social media channels for Inter Women fixtures.
The club’s activities linked to #ThisLittleGirlIsMe were kicked off by a set of posts on its official channels in which Inter players interact with their child selves, by listening to their fears and encouraging themselves to pursue their dream of playing in Serie A. The conversation swiftly turns into a motivational message designed to give hope to younger generations.
Inter Women stars Lisa Alborghetti, Tatiana Bonetti and Sofie Junge Pedersen were all featured in the content along with three young players from the youth academy playing the role of child footballers.
