San Siro honours Handanovic: "An emotional moment: playing for Inter was a dream"

For ten years, the first name on the Inter teasheet was almost always the same: Samir Handanovic, in goal to defend the Nerazzurri from the opponents. Handanovic lifted five trophies as captain: the 2020/21 Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana. Samir spent ten years with the Nerazzurri, collecting 455 appearances and joining Ivan Cordoba in tenth position in the Club's all-time appearance rankings. He kept 166 clean sheets in those 455 games. Before Inter vs. Cagliari, Samir Handanovic returned to San Siro and met with his fans, who cheered him as he received a special commemorative Nerazzurri shirt with the number 455 from Vice President Javier Zanetti.
“It is a special day for me, I am grateful to the Club for all the years spent together, they have not always been easy. I'm a little emotional today and it's not something that happens to me often. San Siro is the most incredible stadium out there; these fans are the best of all: playing here for me was a dream come true.”
