Lautaro: "We're enjoying ourselves on the pitch, but the mission is to win"

It's the eve of the Supercoppa Italiana final between Napoli and Inter. After the great match against Lazio, the Nerazzurri are raring to go in search of their eighth Supercoppa Italiana. In Riyadh, from the Al-Awwal Park, captain Lautaro Martinez answered questions from journalists at the pre-match press conference.

Inter gave one of their best performances of the season. You didn't get on the scoresheet: is this a symbol of a team that knows how to win without having to rely on your goals... "It doesn't matter who scores, how we develop our game, as we did, is the most important thing. It was a great performance from everyone, This is our future, a high-level one, we need carry on as we are. There's a trophy up for grabs: we need to find the energy to give another big performance". Do you feel one of the best forwards in Europe? "I work hard every day to make fans happy and to reach this great Club's objectives. I feel I'm playing at a high level, but it's not for me to say where I'm at at this moment in time. I just try to give my best". What dangers could there be at this stage of the season, with many fixtures coming up? "We just need to take one game at a time. We know it's going to be difficult from here on in: we have many big games to face. We're ready though, the head coach knows it: the group is healthy, there's great unity within the squad and whoever plays knows what they have to do". How important is it for a forward to have a team that creates lots of chances? "Loads. We are happy because we create ots siamo contenti perché abbiamo tante occasioni: è merito della squadra. Are you enjoying yourselves? "Very much because it's like when you were kids. We've gone back to being children again when on the pitch: we enjoy ourselves, it's like playing with friends. The group is united, and we are all moving in the same direction. This doesn't mean we need to relax, but remain focused on keeping on this path". Will you have one eye on Juventus? "I'm only thinking about tomorrow's game: the trophy we're fighting for is very important, it is one of our season's objectives". The contract renewal? "We're working with the Club: I am happy here. I want to return to Milano and see my family. In this moment, I'm just concentrating on Napoli". Woever plays with you up front always has a great season... "I try to see how my striking partners play so as to not make the same movements during a game and to provide more options". How important is tomorrow night's game? "We've won it twice in a row, and we're hungry to take it home once again: it is one of our season's objectives. We played really well agains Lazio, we now just need to go one step further."
