MILAN - It is the eve of Inter's Champions League challenge against Barcelona, the third game of the group stage. The big match is on Tuesday 4 October at 21:00 CEST, at San Siro. Here are Coach Simone Inzaghi's words in the press conference:
Can you give us an injury report and an update on Lautaro? Is he able to start tomorrow?
"Lautaro had an examination this morning where nothing was flagged, he finished the game tired, and today he will do a partial training session. I still have to talk to the doctors, we'll see his condition. Brozovic and Lukaku won't be available, Gagliardini and Lautaro need to be evaluated".
How do you get out of these tricky periods?
"Today we will analyse the game against Roma then we will go into detail on Barcelona. We're come off the back of a difficult time in terms of results. On Saturday we had a good match but we conceded two goals, we deserved more from what we saw on the pitch but it's a moment when we have to do more."
How do you reignite the squad?
"With wins and results. Tomorrow is a great opportunity, we play a really strong team, who went to Munich and lost undeservedly. It was a result that did not reflect what happened on the pitch, they have great quality, drive and determination.
After Barcelona there are lots of games...
"We will look at Lautaro, Correa is fine. We have eleven games, one every three days. I hope to have the full squad. We've had a few problems, Brozovic and Lukaku won't be there for some time but we have other players to count on."
Do you need a boost tomorrow?
"Barcelona are a very strong team and complete in all areas. For us we must see it as an opportunity, we know the importance of the match, the group is wide open, the match is difficult but we are Inter and we will play it with everything we've got".
Will Onana play in goal tomorrow? How will you look at upcoming matches?
"I will always evaluate on a game by game basis, tomorrow Onana will be starting".
What worries you most about Barcelona?
"They are a complete team, strong, with a lot of quality. They know how to do everything, they are organised, I think they are the team that recovers the ball in the highest way in Europe. This year they also have Lewandowski who is a great player."
Do you think Barcelona are favourites? What strengths do you have?
"We know the difficulty of the match. Against Bayern Munich, despite a good game, we lost, we were not in the game in the key moments and we had to defend better and take advantage of opportunities. Tomorrow we will have to be good at limiting them and then hit them at the right moment."
Is Asllani ready for two games in a row? Can more be expected from Skriniar?
"You have to expect more from everyone, it's not an easy time. Asllani had a good match, tomorrow we'll see his condition ahead of the line-up, but he's ready."
Did you decide on Dybala?
"I don't always decide. There's one ownership and we've all been going in one direction for a year and a half, there's a daily conversation. We coaches depend on results, and right now they're not coming and it's normal that the coach is the first to be questioned, but that's football."
Will Acerbi be confirmed tomorrow?
"He has settled in very well and is a quality player, but I won't leave de Vrij behind, Saturday was a choice, tomorrow he has the chance to start".
How do you explain the fear that arises when you concede a goal?
"It's in the moment, if I review the game against Roma tactically and in terms of physical impact I can't say anything, the team has a lot of desire, the fans always push us on. The team is feeling the pressure at the moment when we're dropping points. On Saturday the boys leave everything on the pitch, unfortunately we were not rewarded by the result".
