PREVIOUS MEETINGS
2010 EUROPEAN SUPER CUP
There has been only one official previous meeting between Atletico Madrid and Inter: the 2010 European Super Cup played on 27 August 2010 at the Louis II stadium in Monte Carlo. On what was a bad night for Inter, the Spanish side ran out 2-0 winners to lift the trophy, following goals from Reyes and Aguero, and De Gea saving a penalty from Milito.
LAUTARO'S GOAL IN 2018
A beautiful goal, one of his first in a Nerazzurri shirt, even if it didn't come in an official match. In the summer of 2018, the Wanda Metropolitano stadium in Madrid hosted the ICC, with Inter winning 1-0 thanks to an extraordinary goal from Lautaro Martinez. After being played through from Kondogbia's long ball forward, El Toro steadied himself and fired home past Oblak.
1997 FRIENDLY DECIDED BY VIERI
In 1997, there was another summer friendly: Atletico Madrid beat Inter 1-0 in the Villa de Madrid Trophy on 25 August. Christian Vieri, at the time playing for the Spanish team, scored the game's only goal. In the Nerazzurri team that evening was current Atletico coach, Diego Pablo Simeone. There have been three other friendlies between Inter and Atletico: in 1964 in Milano (2-2) with comeback goals from Milani and Peirò; again in 1964, Inter 2-4 Atletico, with Gori and Canella scoring for Inter; and finally in 1977, Atletico 2-0 Inter in Cadiz.
