Massimo Dellacasa, the long-standing Nerazzurri physiotherapist, ends his professional career after 42 years and 10 months spent in the service of Inter. On Wednesday 18 December, at Inter HQ, President and CEO Sport Giuseppe Marotta presented him with a special shirt to thank him for his work for the club. Accompanying Massimo were his brother Marco Dellacasa, the current coordinator of the Nerazzurri physiotherapists, and his father Giancarlo, Inter's physiotherapist for many years.
The Dellacasa family's story is linked to Inter for three generations: the ancestor Bartolomeo, known as ‘El Tumela’, was born in 1908 and started working for the Nerazzurri club in 1945, when football was restarting after the war. Originally from Sanremo, he arrived at Inter after meeting a Nerazzurri manager in Stresa: the beginning of a bond that continues to this day.
After him came his son Giancarlo, who began his career at his father's side in Helenio Herrera's Grande Inter. His work contributed to the success of the team that conquered everything.
The Dellacasa tradition has continued with Massimo and Marco, Giancarlo's two sons and ‘Tumela's' grandsons: for almost 80 years all the greatest champions in Inter's history have passed through their hands, from Meazza to Boninsegna, from Matthäus to Ronaldo, from Adriano to Lautaro Martinez. A beautiful history full of unforgettable moments, which have fostered the unbreakable relationships that have made Inter unique and successful.
