— Feb 25th 2024The Nerazzurri captain continues to rack up incredible numbers
Lautaro Martinez continues to rack up extraordinary numbers: his 15th-minute opener in Lecce vs. Inter on matchday 26 saw him make it 100 goals in Serie A, all of which he scored in a Nerazzurri shirt.
Then, after the restart, he bagged the team's third and, in doing so, improved his personal tally still further. 101 goals in the Italian top flight, 22 of which have arrived this campaign (in 23 appearances). Since joining the Nerazzurri, he's found the net a total of 127 times, putting him eighth in Inter's all-time top goalscorer ranking.
LAUTARO, 100 AND 101 GOALS IN SERIE A: THE FACTS
Lautaro Martínez is the only player to have scored more than 15 goals with his right foot, his left foot and with his head in the last six Serie A seasons.
Lautaro Martínez has become the ninth player to score 100 goals for a single Serie A team before turning 27 years old; he's followed in the footsteps of Giuseppe Meazza (Inter), Felice Borel (Juventus), Giampiero Boniperti (Juventus), Gino Pivatelli (Bologna), Omar Sivori (Juventus), Altafini (AC Milan), Luigi Riva (Cagliari) and Mauro Icardi (Inter).
The Inter captain has become the seventh Argentine to score 100 goals in Serie A, after Gabriel Batistuta, Hernán Crespo, Gonzalo Higuaín, Mauro Icardi, Abel Balbo and Paulo Dybala.
Lautaro Martínez has become the third non-Italian in Inter's history to reach the 100-goal mark in Serie A, following in the footsteps of Stefano Nyers (133) and Mauro Icardi (111).
Lautaro Martínez, who has scored 22 league goals this season, has become the third player in Inter's history to net at least 20 times for three consecutive Serie A campaigns. Giuseppe Meazza (five - from 1929/30 to 1933/34) and Stefano Nyers (four - from 1948/49 to 1951/52) previously did this.
Lautaro Martínez has become the fifth player in Inter's history to score at least 22 goals in the Nerazzurri's opening 25 matches of a single Serie A campaign. He's followed in the footsteps of Giuseppe Meazza, Stefano Nyers, Antonio Angelillo and Christian Vieri.
Of the 22 goals Lautaro Martínez has scored this Serie A season, 14 have arrived away from home: no player has bagged more on the road across the top five European divisions in 2023/24. Only two players have previously done better than this in a single top-flight campaign: Romelu Lukaku in 2019/20 and Stefano Nyers in 1949/50 (both 15).
Lautaro Martínez finished 2023 with 29 Serie A goals to his name. Only three players had previously reached such a total in a single calendar year in the Italian top flight with Inter: Giuseppe Meazza (30 in 1930 and 29 in 1933), Stefano Nyers (32 in 1951) and Antonio Angelillo (31 in 1958).
Lautaro Martínez is one of two Inter players to have scored a perfect hat-trick (left foot, right foot and header) since Opta started collecting such data (from 2004/05): he did so against Crotone on 3 January 2021, thus following in the footsteps of Mauro Icardi (against Atalanta on 12 March 2017).
Since the start of the three-points-per-win era (from 1994/95), Lautaro Martínez is the only player to have scored four goals as a substitute; he did so against Salernitana on 30 September 2023.
