— Nov 8th 2023The Nerazzurri captain gave his thoughts after Inter's 1-0 victory away to Salzburg
Lautaro Martinez produced a decisive display in Inter's victory over Salzburg at the Red Bull Arena, scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot and being named as the MVP from the match. The Nerazzurri captain was also unlucky not to score another, hitting the bar with a header. This is what he had to say after the game:
“I’m very happy. We’re in a difficult group, but we’ve done our job well, also because we’ve had to come up against sides who cause problems. We wanted to qualify for the knockouts as soon as possible. They did a lot of pressing in the first half but got tired, and we started to step it up. You can practise penalties a lot, but sometimes luck comes into it. After training, we practice them together. Scoring is always important, as is helping the team. Whether we progress as the group winners or in second place still needs to be determined. We’re now in our third year with the Coach, and we’ve really matured in that time. I’m happy; let’s keep it up.”
