Despite dominating at the Stadio Picco, Inter fell to a 2-1 defeat on matchday 26 in Serie A. This is what Simone Inzaghi had to say to DAZN and Inter TV after the game:
"This is football. Given the chances we had, the result should have been different. We're angry and won't sleep tonight but, from tomorrow, we'll go again because we have a game in the round of 16 of the Champions League coming up on Tuesday.
"This defeat hurts following a match where we really did give our all out on the pitch. We needed to have a bit more of a clinical edge: the first half shouldn't have finished goalless. We got our approach right but conceded two goals from two shots. You don't get any concessions in football, and, although it isn't right that we lost this match, we have to move on. The lads gave everything, and we just needed to be more clinical. We've had a few too many defeats this season, especially away from home, and we need to do more. We're all close together in the table, and it'll be a real battle.
"Lukaku and Lautaro are our two penalty takers. Dragowski simply did really well. We had 28 shots and deserved to score earlier. Then, after equalising, we shouldn't have conceded a penalty.
"It'll be a tough game against Porto. We have the opportunity to progress to the quarter-finals and, although it won't be easy, we'll do our best. We have enough time to prepare for it, even after this hurtful defeat. We saluted our fans, who obviously weren't happy, but the team gave everything they had."
