— Nov 8th 2023The thoughts of the Nerazzurri Head Coach after his team's 1-0 victory over Salzburg
A goal from Lautaro from the penalty spot decided Inter's showdown against Salzburg on matchday 4 in Champions League Group D. It's a victory that has secured the Nerazzurri's spot in the round of 16 with two games to spare. This is what Coach Simone Inzaghi had to say after the game:
“The lads were fantastic because we were up against a side with important physical characteristics. They do a lot of running and it’s extremely difficult to play against them. They eased the pressure in the final 20 minutes and we started to control the game more. Lautaro is a very important player who always displays real desire, while Sanchez and Thuram also made a great contribution tonight. We’re proud to have qualified with two games to spare; this hasn’t happened since 2004/05. We’ve now progressed to the knockouts for a third consecutive season, and it’s well deserved. However, we now know that we still have two games left to finish in first place. Every Champions League match is difficult. Today, there were moments where we had to dig in during the first half, but we defended together as a team. Now, we need to look ahead because we’ve got a tough fixture list in the coming weeks.”
